Crystal joined Jackpot Veterinary Center in the Summer of 2020. She graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2008 and completed a Business Internship with the Social Entrepreneurship Corps in Guatemala. Crystal has always had a passion for business management and a desire to help people and animals, so naturally, the veterinary industry became the perfect fit. She has worked in the veterinary field for the last 10 years, managing practices in Connecticut, Florida, Nevada, and now Arizona. In Crystal’s free time, she enjoys spending time with family, volunteering with both companion and wild animal rescue, traveling, hiking, camping, and chihuahuas (especially chihuahuas!).

Michelle was born and raised in Tucson, AZ. She graduated from Pima Community College with an Associates of Applied Science - Veterinary Technology degree. Michelle's passion for animals has increased since she has been with Jackpot, with a special passion for small animal dentistry. She is also active in education, volunteering and working with Pima's program often. Michelle has several pets, including two dogs, two cats and a 2000-gallon pond full of fish. Her hobbies consist of photography, nature and history exploration, and playing games.

Rebecca Casillas is originally from Los Angeles, California. As a child, she developed a strong interest in caring for animals. She moved to Arizona in 2013 where she grew her passion for veterinary medicine and went on to get certified as a veterinarian assistant. She started her 1st job in a 24-hour emergency veterinary hospital and learned to act gracefully in a fast paced environment while tending to the needs of families in the most uncertain of times. With 5+ years of experience she is passionate about continuing to advance her knowledge in veterinary medicine. In her free time Rebecca loves to spend time with her family and friends and most of all her Labrador Retriever named Cuervo.

Amanda, a Tucson Native, received her Associates Degree in Liberal Arts and studied Applied Sciences in biology at Pima Community College. She began practicing veterinarian medicine as a kennel technician in 2009, then moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 2012 and worked as a Veterinary Assistant at a General Practice and Emergency Clinic. In 2014, Amanda moved back to Tucson and started working at the Veterinary Specialty Center of Tucson (VSCOT) as a Veterinary Assistant, where she honed her skills in Emergency Management of small animals. In her free time, Amanda enjoys spending quality time with her husband Mike, son Matthew and daughter Maddison. 

Haley Halvorsen

Haley Halvorsen is studying at Pima Community College to become a Veterinarian Technician. She’s was born and raised in Las Cruces New Mexico and moved to Arizona for school.  Has a love for animals since a young age. Was involved in 4-H since the age of 8 and FFA all throughout high school. During her time being involved in FFA and 4-H she raised rabbits and Dairy heifers for the fairs. While showing animals Haley also played a lot of sports growing up. Haley has a deep love for her favorite sport teams which include the Dallas cowboys, the golden state warriors, the U of A wildcats and the Chicago cubs.

Sara was born and raised in the heart of the Midwest in Brownsburg, Indiana. She moved to Tucson in 2018 and attended Pima Medical Institute to pursue a career that she always had a passion for; Veterinary nursing. She completed her externship at Jackpot and graduated from Veterinary Technician Program in January 2020. In her spare time, Sara enjoys the picturesque views while hiking on Mt. Lemmon with her spunky pup Pickle. She also has a great time wowing the local bar scene with her mad karaoke skills. Sara also has pride and dedication for her sports teams, which include the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts, Notre Dame college football, and the NBA’s Indiana Pacers.

Atim Kilama

Atim Kilama was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware. She moved to Tucson in 2018 to attend the University of Arizona where she is currently a senior majoring in Veterinary Science with a minor in marine biology. Atim has always had a passion for animals from small dogs to large giraffes, she loves them all and hopes to open her own clinic one day. Atim enjoys spending time with her dog Mamas, cat Lincoln, and leopard gecko Leonard. In her free time, she likes to travel, hang with friends, and explore Tucson. She also has a passion for fashion, and loves to recreate new looks, and gains new inspiration from different artists.

Brianna Lopez, AVA

Small Animal Technician

Brianna was born and raised in Tucson AZ.  She has what she calls "the zoo of minis".  She has chinchillas, dogs, bunnies, a desert tortoise, and fish.  She also has family in New York who she visits as often as she can.  She loves the outdoors and grew up hunting, fishing and riding quads. Brianna is also a huge basketball fan.  She completed her veterinary assistant program at Pima college and has loved working with animals ever since.

Taylor Kersey

Large Animal Technician

Taylor was born in Oregon, where she was raised to love horses and rodeo. In 2013, she attended Central Arizona College and competed on the rodeo team in the Grand Canyon Region. She graduated with her degree in Agriculture Business and moved back to Oregon, but quickly grew to love veterinary medicine and equine rehabilitation while working alongside her long-time veterinarian. It wasn’t long after that, the cold and rainy weather pushed her to move back to Arizona full time in 2018 and continue to pursue a career in veterinary medicine with Jackpot. In her spare time, Taylor enjoys drinking Margaritas with her fellow Jackpot employee Brittany, roping with her wonderful neighbors and riding her growing herd of bays and greys.

Large Animal Technician

Briana was born and raised in Tucson and loves the southwest desert. Her passion has always been for animals, particularly for small ruminants and livestock. She has a background in Nigerian dwarf and La Mancha goat breeding and rearing, as well as in horses, including managing local boarding facilities. Briana discovered her passion for medicine early on and enrolled in PMI’s vet tech program. She completed the rigorous course in 2019 and become a Certified Veterinary Technician in 2020. In her spare time, Briana enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking and camping and fishing. Briana also enjoys “Dad” jokes and hanging with her polydactyl kitty Bartholomew.

Born and raised in Tombstone, Arizona, Shayla is a Junior at the University of Arizona majoring in Veterinary Science. She has plans of attending Veterinary School and hopes to open her own mobile practice some day. Shayla enjoys exercising, going on hikes with her dogs, horseback riding, and spending time with her friends and family.

Brittany grew up in Sierra Vista and graduated from Buena High School. She moved to Tucson to attend Pima Community College on a Cross Country Scholarship. On her days off she enjoys spending time with her husband, their surrogate son/dog Maverick, and their three horses. In 2015 she graduated from Pima Medical Institute with a certification as a Veterinary Assistant. Brittany brings a variety of skills with her to the Jackpot team, and looks forward to perfecting her equine technician skills.

Jeannette Felix

Equine Receptionist

Jeanette is a Tucson native and an animal lover at heart.  She has 4 cattle dogs that would rather be around cows than people, one cat that acts more like a dog than a cat and 6 horses.  If she’s not caring for animals at Jackpot, she’s probably out ranching and roping with her husband.  Jeanette loves the variety of pets and owners she gets to interact with and we are so happy to have her as part of the Jackpot family.
